“Attakathi” (Cardboard Knife) has earned a hype to it due to the fact that actor Surya’s production house Studio Green has bagged the film’s distribution rights. Added to it was the publicity overdrive in the last few days that has made this “Attakathi” a one to watch out for. Director Ranjith who has taken a very light subject to deal with in his debut film much similar to his mentor Venkat Prabhu.
The film doesn’t have a complex story to boast off nor is the storyline something new. The film scores its maximum in the screenplay and in terms of acting from its lead actors Dinesh and Swetha. Touted to be a realistic film, it is a clear flow of events without any unexpected twists or turns. The climax though predictable keeps the viewers at the edge of their seats till the end.
Most film makers these days resort to the “realistic film” category, thereby venturing into dirt laden roads, atmosphere etc. In Attakathi, the director has dealt with the mindset of youths living in smaller towns to perfection. The sets and the props used in the film inhales more life into the film.
