If Jab We Met was roti and dhal, then Kanden Kadhalai is a perfect sambar sadham and appalam combo, as director Kannan is successful in serving a delicious dish with local flavour, though it was inspired by a Bollywood recipe.
The film produced by MoserBaer & Blue Ocean Entertainment and distributed by Sun Pictures is interesting from the word go, thanks to simplicity in the screenplay and sensibility in dialogues (Pattukottai Prabhakar).
It is about Sakthi (Bharath) and Anjali (Tamannah). While Sakthi is unsuccessful in both professional and personal lives, Anjali is a chirpy young girl who celebrates her own self. Both meet during a train journey.
As expected, opposite poles attract each other and Sakthi goes to Anjali’s hometown where she has a beautiful family including Mokka Raju (Santhanam), a ‘morai mappillai’. As everyone expects that Sakthi and Anjali are in love with each other, a truth is revealed. What’s next is Kanden Kadhalai to you.
It’s a break for Bharath from punch dialogues and unbelievable stunt sequences. He is cool and suave. Tamannah has got a lifetime role and she performs it with ease, though she looks alien in half saree. Munna as her boyfriend and Santhanam are adequate.
Vidyasagar’s music adds more authenticity while P G Muthiah’s camera makes us to love Theni. If you are not going to compare Kanden Kadhalai with Jan We Met, then the Tamil film would attract you for sure. It’s a fun-filled ride.
